# Disable Self Teleport

> What happens when a Training turns off Self Teleport, what still works, and when it comes back on.

A Training can turn off [Self Teleport](/creator-studio/trainee-client/self-teleport) for part of the Training, for example to keep you in the right spot while you watch a demonstration or carry out a task.

## What You Notice

When Self Teleport is off, the teleport arc and landing circle don't appear. There's no message and no sound.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Meta Quest">
    Holding the palm-up teleport gesture or pushing the **joystick** forward does nothing.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="HTC Vive">
    Pushing forward on the **trackpad** does nothing.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

You can't teleport onto objects marked as Teleportable either. Turning with the joystick or trackpad (left or right) and stepping back (pulling back) are turned off too.

## What Still Works

* Walking around in your real space and turning your head.
* [Height adjustment](/creator-studio/trainee-client/height-adjustment).
* The Training moving you to a new position itself.
* The ray, the step panel, and the [Toolbelt menu](/creator-studio/trainee-client/toolbelt).

<Note>
  You can still walk into a [pause collider](/creator-studio/trainee-client/pause-colliders) while Self Teleport is off.
</Note>

## When Self Teleport Comes Back On

Self Teleport is **on** when a Training starts. After the Training turns it off, it stays off until the Training turns it back on, or until one of the situations below.

| Situation | Self Teleport |
| - | - |
| You move to the next step | Stays off |
| The Training loads a new scene | Stays off |
| The Training pauses (pause collider, time limit or speed alert) | No change |
| You go **Back** a step | Set the way the Training has it on the step you go back to |
| You use [Reset Step](/creator-studio/trainee-client/reset-step) | Set the way it was when you first reached the step |
| You use **Restart Training** | On, unless the Training turns it off again at the start |
| You resume the Training | Set the way the Training has it on the step you resume at |
| The Training jumps you to another step | Set the way the Training has it at the step you land on |
| You adjust the anchor | Always off while you adjust, then set back to how the Training has it. See [Adjust Anchor](/creator-studio/trainee-client/adjust-anchor) |
| You close the Training | Off while you're on the Trainings list |
| You open another Training | On, unless that Training turns it off |

Self Teleport works the same way in Practice and [Assessment](/creator-studio/trainee-client/assessment-mode) mode.

<Tip>
  If you can't teleport and the object you need is out of reach, walk towards it if you have the space, or use [Reset Step](/creator-studio/trainee-client/reset-step), which may return you to the step's starting position.
</Tip>
