An important consideration while importing a Dynamics 365 Guide to Altoura, is to build an Altoura project consisting of a 3D model of the real-world equipment for which the Dynamics 365 Guide was developed. The QR code on the equipment that initiates the Guides training must be integrated as a game object within the Altoura 3D model. This game object will serve as the reference to accurately map the placement of the panels and 3D objects being imported into the Altoura experience.

Steps to follow within Altoura to import Dynamics 365 Guides

In the Altoura Portal, click on the Experiences tab, a list of all the experiences will be displayed. Here, click on the “Add New +” button to add a new Altoura experience. Add New Experience window is displayed. Here, click on the Guides Instance dropdown, a list of Guides environments that have been configured are displayed. Select the required instance, the Import Guide dropdown will be populated with all the Guides under that instance.

New Guides

If new Guides are added to the customer’s Dynamics 365 Guides environment, then a Guides Refresh needs to be run by the Altoura Admin for the new Guides to appear in this list.
Select the required Guide that needs to be imported, a new field Anchor Game Object is displayed. This field must be populated with the game object name that corresponds to the QR Code in the 3D Model. All the steps then will get positioned based on this game object. The Transform Matrix underneath the Anchor Game Object can be used to change the co-ordinates of the game object to make it better align with the QR Code in the actual equipment. Enter a name for the Experience and click on the Create button. The Import process begins. A message stating “Importing Guide, please check after sometime.” is displayed. The experience being created is displayed with the progress of the import process being displayed on top of the experience. Initially, all the 3D Objects are imported into Altoura and then the steps are imported. All the 3D Objects that are imported from Guides will be displayed as Altoura Objects under the Objects tab in the Altoura Portal. Once the import process is completed, the user can open the experience and view all the steps that are imported into the Altoura experience. All the nodes that have been created as part of a Guides Import process will have their titles displayed in black. If an Altoura node is added in between, then the title of the Altoura Node will be displayed in blue.
