Timelines and Animation

The timeline panel is the animation workspace. It supports both a list of timelines and a detailed editor for a selected timeline. Timeline panel Timeline panel used for keyframes, playback, and audio tracks.

Timeline List View

When no timeline is selected, the panel shows the timeline list. Capabilities include:
  • Search timelines
  • Create a timeline
  • Open a timeline
  • Rename a timeline
  • Open the timeline context menu

Empty State

  • No Timelines Yet
  • Create your first timeline to start animating
  • Create Timeline

Timeline Context Menu

Right-clicking a timeline provides:
  • Rename
  • Duplicate
  • Delete

Timeline Editor Header

When a timeline is selected, the header includes:
  • Back to timeline list
  • The timeline name
  • Double-click-to-edit support for the name
  • Animation Guide
  • Close button

Playback Controls

The playback strip includes:
  • Record toggle
  • First keyframe
  • Previous keyframe
  • Play or Pause
  • Next keyframe
  • Last keyframe
  • Editable current time field
The time field supports typed input in seconds, frame numbers, or MM:SS style formatting.

Animation Guide

The guide explains a three-step animation workflow:
  1. Select the object to animate
  2. Move the red bar on the timeline
  3. Animate the object while recording

Supported Track Types

The timeline supports:
  • Property tracks such as position, rotation, scale, Material Tiling, and Material Offset
  • Visibility tracks

Timeline Actions

The editor supports:
  • Selecting and moving keyframes
  • Drag selection
  • Copy, cut, paste, and delete for selected keyframes
  • Visibility block deletion
  • Deleting tracks

Create an Animation

  1. Open the timeline.
  2. Create a new timeline if none exists.
  3. Select the timeline.
  4. Select the object to animate.
  5. Click record.
  6. Move the playhead.
  7. Change position, rotation, or scale while recording.
  8. Use play and scrub controls to review the result.
