What Are Procedures?

Procedures are the core workflow feature of Altoura Frontline. They represent digitized, step-by-step work instructions that guide field workers through tasks using augmented reality on a head-mounted display. Each procedure consists of:
  • Tasks: High-level groupings of related work (e.g., “Prepare Equipment”, “Replace Filter”).
  • Steps: Individual actions within a task that the worker follows sequentially.
  • 3D Models & Media: Visual aids including 3D models, images, and videos anchored in the worker’s physical environment.
  • Anchor Gems: Spatial markers that position procedure content in the correct physical location.

Two Modes

Altoura Frontline Procedures operate in two distinct modes:

Author Mode

Author Mode is for content creators who build and configure procedures. In this mode, you can:
  • Create and organize tasks and steps
  • Place and position 3D models in the physical space
  • Set anchor gems for spatial alignment
  • Configure choice steps and completion criteria
  • Preview how procedures will appear to operators

Operator Mode

Operator Mode is for field workers who execute procedures. In this mode, you can:
  • Browse and select available procedures
  • Follow step-by-step guidance with AR overlays
  • View 3D models, media, and annotations anchored in your environment
  • Navigate through tasks using the procedure panel
  • Complete steps and mark tasks as done
