A Training can turn off Self Teleport for part of the Training, for example to keep you in the right spot while you watch a demonstration or carry out a task.

What You Notice

When Self Teleport is off, the teleport arc and landing circle don’t appear. There’s no message and no sound.
Holding the palm-up teleport gesture or pushing the joystick forward does nothing.
You can’t teleport onto objects marked as Teleportable either. Turning with the joystick or trackpad (left or right) and stepping back (pulling back) are turned off too.

What Still Works

  • Walking around in your real space and turning your head.
  • Height adjustment.
  • The Training moving you to a new position itself.
  • The ray, the step panel, and the Toolbelt menu.
You can still walk into a pause collider while Self Teleport is off.

When Self Teleport Comes Back On

Self Teleport is on when a Training starts. After the Training turns it off, it stays off until the Training turns it back on, or until one of the situations below. Self Teleport works the same way in Practice and Assessment mode.
If you can’t teleport and the object you need is out of reach, walk towards it if you have the space, or use Reset Step, which may return you to the step’s starting position.

For Creators

To turn Self Teleport off or on in a Training, see Disable Self Teleport. To move the trainee while Self Teleport is off, see Teleport User To.
